Ledyard Music Concert Etiquette

Student performances are the culmination of many weeks of demanding preparation. Part of this preparation involves teaching students to behave appropriately while on stage. Students have also been learning how to be good audience members. The following guidelines were developed by the Ledyard Chorale to help encourage a positive atmosphere for audience and performers alike.

It is traditional to applaud upon the entrance of the concertmaster, and then again upon the entrance of the conductor and accompanist.

It is appropriate to applaud immediately following a jazz solo. During band and chorus performances however, please hold your applause until the piece is finished and the soloist is recognized.

At the end of a piece, please hold your applause until the conductor's hands come down. This will avoid clapping in between movements, or accidentally interrupting a dramatic pause.

Please enter and exit the auditorium only at the end of a piece.

If you have a crying child or are creating a prolonged distraction from the performance, please feel free to exit immediately.

Please turn off all pagers and cell phones during a performance.

Please refrain from talking or having a conversation during a performance.

Please do not bring food or drinks into the auditorium.

Respectfully presented by the members of the Ledyard Chorale
