REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERMEDIATE
& ADVANCED BANDS
Intermediate Band and Advanced Band are performing ensembles. This means that the goal for each class is to perform our very best at each performance. Grades are earned based on the following:

PARTICIPATION       40% of your grade will be based on what you do in the classroom.

    You are expected to:

        - be on time to class
        - have your instrument in good working condition for each class
        - have all band handouts in your folder
        - have your folder with band handouts for each class
        - have a pencil with a working eraser
        - each day will be worth 10 points
        - failure at any of the above will result in a zero for the day
        - you are allotted one "freebie"

TESTS       40% of your grade will be based on your attendance at performances.

You are required to attend all band performances
. In the event you have extraordinary circumstances and must miss a performance; you must submit a Performance Absence Form two (2) weeks prior to the performance you will be missing in order to be eligible to make up the performance. Work is not an excusable reason for missing a performance. Band is a performing class. You need to make clear to your parents, coaches, and bosses that the scheduled performances are not optional, they are test grades. If illness is your extraordinary circumstance, you may submit a Performance Absence Form after the fact within a reasonable amount of time. Make-up performances will occur after school, within one week of the missed performance. The only students who will be allowed to make up a performance will be those who have submitted the Performance Absence Form and who have been excused for being absent. At the end of the second semester, a class/teacher evaluation will be counted as a performance grade.

EXAMS       20% of your grade will be your final exam. At the end of the first semester there will be a written final exam based on the writing and listening activities we do in class. The graduation performance is your second semester final exam. Seniors will be exempted only at Mr. Green's discretion.

EXTRA CREDIT       If students wish to enhance their grade, two-page, double-spaced, typed critiques of out of school performances will be accepted up to the closing of each semester. Any papers more or less than two pages will not be accepted. Papers will only be accepted with programs or tickets attached.

Youer first assignment is to enter all Music department functions onto your calendar.
